If you’re already cooking for your furry four-legged friend, you know that chicken is a top protein. It gives your dog a balance of nutrition. Ground chicken or chicken breasts are common for many dog food recipes, but what about chicken strips?

How to make chicken strips for dogs is much the same as any other form of chicken. Just make sure they are 100% white meat and not mixed with rib meat. Rib meat can comprise other parts of various animals that can hurt your dog’s stomach and digestive system.

  • ½ lb Chicken Strips
  • 1 tsp Parsley, dried
  • 1 tsp Rosemary, dried

Instructions

  1. Turn on the oven to at least 175°F, or the lowest temperature you can reach.
  2. Use parchment to cover a baking sheet.
  3. Take care of the chicken by rinsing and trimming the strips. 
  4. Cut down the chicken strips so that they are around ¼ inch thick and in bite sized pieces.
  5. Put the chicken in the bowl along with the olive oil, parsley, dill and rosemary; covering them completely.
  6. Let the meat rest for 15 minutes, this will ensure the herbs absorb into each piece.

  8. Put in the oven and check every 2 hours until the chicken is cooked but slightly dry and chewy like jerky.

This recipe you and your pooch can enjoy together! The only difference is that your dog can’t have any of the dipping sauce you’ll want to use. Because no pepper or salt come into this recipe, you’ll want to season it up for your own tastes.

  • 3 Tbsp Olive Oil  
  • 1 tsp Turmeric, powdered  
  • ½ tsp Oregano or two drops of Oil of Oregano  
  • 1 tsp Dill, dried  
  • 1 tsp Parsley, dried
  • 1 tsp Rosemary, dried
  • 1 Cup Goat or Coconut Milk
  • 1 Cup Gluten-Free All Purpose Flour  
  • ½ lb Chicken Strips

Instructions

  1. Put the oven on 375°F.
  2. In one bowl, blend together the herbs, spices and flour. Ensure it’s well mixed.
  3. Pour in the Goat, Coconut or other lactose-free milk into another bowl.
  4. Clean and trim the chicken strips, taking care to remove all the fat. Cut the pieces down to make them easier for your dog to eat if necessary.
  5. Use paper toweling and dry the chicken.
  6. Dunk the strips first in milk and then the seasoned flour one at a time. Coat them well.
  7. Ensure the chickens lay in a single layer on the sheet.
  8. Use the olive oil and basting brush to coat each side of the chicken strips.
  9. Put it in the oven for 30 minutes, turning the strips about halfway through.
  10. Pull out when chicken reaches an inner temperature of 170°F and the breading is golden brown.

The night before you plan to make these chicken strips, create a marinade for the chicken and let it sit overnight.

  • ½ lb Chicken Strips
  • ½ tsp Turmeric, ground  
  • ½ tsp Basil, ground or powdered  
  • ½ tsp Summer Savory, ground  
  • ½ tsp Dill, dried  
  • ½ tsp Parsley, powdered  
  • 4 Tbsp Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Clean and trim the meat; be sure to take off all the tendons and fat. Make smaller pieces if you must.
  2. Dry the meat and set off to the side while you prepare the marinade.
  3. In a bowl mix all the herbs, spices and olive oil.
  4. Now add the chicken to the marinade and make sure every part of the meat touches the marinade. 
  5. Cover the bowl and let this sit in the refrigerator for at least six hours, but overnight is better.
  6. Then heat your grill until it reaches about 375°F to 400°F.
  7. Take the meat out and remove the lid; let the chicken rest for about 15 minutes.
  8. Place the chicken on the grill. Heat them for about 10 minutes per side. The meat should reach an inner temp of 170°F.
  9. Serve it to your dog once cooled. You can save the remaining chicken for no more than three days.

Ingredients

  • 1 Chicken Strip
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Turn on your oven on to 350°F.
  2. Clean and trim the chicken strip; remove any fat. Cut the piece down if it’s too big for your pup.
  3. Dry the chicken off with some paper toweling and place it in the oven-safe baking dish. The baking dish should only be large enough for that one chicken strip.
  4. Cover the chicken in olive oil and roll it around so it covers the strip very well.
  5. Put it into the oven and cook it for 20 to 25 minutes, turning it over with tongs about halfway through.
  6. Take the chicken out when it reaches an inner temp of 170°F.
