HomeAgain is a company that’s known for manufacturing microchips to keep your pets safe. The microchip is inserted between the shoulder blades of your furry friends.
It’s then given a unique ID number. Once that’s done, you register your pet with their name, picture, and your contact information.
If your pet is ever lost, this microchip makes it easier to find your little furry companion.
HomeAgain took their vision and mission further by creating products that are microchip operated. From doors to pet feeders, your pet will have their own personalized products.
In this article, we’ll focus on the HomeAgain microchip pet feeder.
What are the features of this feeder, and what makes it unique? Let’s find out!

What Are the Features of the Pet Feeder?
The microchip pet feeder can be synced to worldwide pet microchips and the SureFlap RFID collar tags.
What this pet feeder does is that it only opens up when your pet goes under the arch. You’d need to sync your pet’s microchip to the pet feeder for the lid to open up.
Keeps Food Fresh
One of the things that most pet owners complained about was how some food would be leftover, and then it’s ‘money going down the drain’.
You can put dry or wet food inside the feeder without worrying about it spoiling. The feeder is sealed when it’s not in use, guaranteeing that the food will stay fresh.
It can sustain up to 2.5 cups of dry food and around 2 to 3 cups of wet food.
Batteries and Lifespan
The feeder is operated using 4-C alkaline batteries ‘not included’. The batteries have a minimum of a 6-month lifespan and can even go up to 1 year. This all depends on how often the feeder is used.
What really got our attention is the fact that this feeder will remember all registered pets even after the batteries are removed. So you don’t have to worry about syncing your pets all over.
There’s also a battery life indicator that’ll tell you when your batteries are running low.
Multiple Pet Usage
Each feeder can have up to 32 pets synced to it.
If you have two pets that are following the same diet or on the same medication, you can save a good few bucks and sync them both to the same feeder.
For those of us who have multiple pets that have different diets or food preferences, then it’ll be ideal to specify a bowel for each.
The feeder comes with a grey bowl, a grey split bowl, and a grey mat. They offer different colored containers that you could buy, though, so you could color code the bowls.
You’ll also get a 3-year warranty with your purchase. Whenever a malfunction is to happen, simply contact customer support and they’ll get your problems fixed in no time.
You’ll find that there are 3-time delay options that you can choose from ‘I, II, and III”. This is where you adjust when the lid should close after your pet walks away.
The ‘I’ means it’ll close after 1 second, ‘II’ after 2 seconds, and ‘III’ will close the lid after 3 seconds.
The units come pre-adjusted to the ‘II’ delay setting.
What Makes This Feeder so Special?
According to the National Pet Survey that was recently conducted, 67% of American households have a pet. That’s around 86 million families. The 2nd and 3rd most owned pets are cats and dogs.
A good percentage of those owners have more than one pet at home. When you have multiple pets, it’s likely to find some of them eating too much and others barely touching their food.
With this feeder, you’ll be able to know what each one of your pets ate and how much of it.
The warranty is also fantastic. Some feeders will have around a 1-year warranty or even no warranty at all. This microchip feeder comes with a 3-year warranty that’ll save you a ton of money in the long run.
It’s also safe for both animals and people. The lid will be hard to open if you have little children. If they also place their hands accidentally in the feeder when it’s opened and it closes up, it won’t harm them at all.
The feeder will open up and try to close again. It also doesn’t close roughly, so no one would get hurt.
Things to Watch out For
There are a couple of things that you’d need to watch out for before purchasing the pet feeder.
Although it has a delay timer, there isn’t a timer to adjust your pet’s food intake. That would’ve been really helpful with those furry ones that have a big appetite.
This pet feeder is battery operated and it doesn’t support rechargeable batteries. We believe that if it was AC operated, that would’ve saved a few dollars.
Since the microchip reader is on the top arch, the pet feeder is also suitable for animals that are smaller in size.
We would’ve liked to see the reader underneath the bowl, for instance. This way it would’ve supported our chubby pets.
Lastly, the HomeAgain microchip pet feeder is on the expensive end. Keep in mind that you’d need to invest money every few months or so in batteries. Buying more than one feeder might burn a hole in our pockets.

Although this feeder is mainly used for cat owners, it can also be used for small dog owners as well.
It’s most suitable if you’re a multiple pet owner who usually separates their pets in different rooms during meal times.
The microchip feeder offers great benefits for those pets with a specified diet. Although we’d like to see a few more tweaks to the HomeAgain microchip feeder, we still think it’s a practical option.
